Dizzy Gillespie once called the Northern Illinois University Jazz Program the best in the country, with many of the band members becoming part of “The Dizzy Band”. Established in 1969, the group is nationally recognized for its outstanding legacy of jazz education, innovation, and musical excellence. The Jazz Orchestra currently thrives under the leadership of our very own, Roosevelt Griffin CD 25′, a celebrated performer and educator. The program offers comprehensive training through award-winning ensembles, individual mentorship, and diverse performance opportunities.
