Jackie Robinson’s entry into Major League Baseball didn’t end discrimination against black professional ball players in the America South. Richard Reeder’s new book, written with energy, passion, and an immersive sense of place, share the story of some of those who stepped up to the plate to put an end to those lingering Jim Crow practices.
