SUMMARY:Theatre Club: Broadway Sings America at Grant Park Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:It’s summer in the city\, and what more Chicago-way to spend a warm summer evening than under the grand arches of the Great Lawn at the Pritzker Pavilion\, listening to the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra and Chorus? \nBring your blanket or a lawn chair and join the Cliff Dwellers Theatre Club on Tuesday\, July 21\, as we get together for an informal picnic-in-the-park. We’ll enjoy hearing selections from beloved Broadway hits such as Ragtime\, Hamilton\, South Pacific\, Hair\, and more! Bring whatever beverage and snacks you’d like. There are some concessions booths in the area\, if you can’t carry anything in. \nThe performance starts at 6:30 p.m.  This is a FREE public performance\, and is one of the Festival’s most popular evenings\, so it will get crowded.  Please try to get there early-ish. We plan on being in the back half of the lawn\, and will plan on trying to stake out an area by 5 p.m.  If you arrive and cannot find the group\, send Rick a text or call at 708-359-0806 and we’ll look for you. \nThink you can make it? Let Rick Frendt know by Tuesday morning\, July 21\, so we can try to save space for people. \n(Rain date: Thursday\, July 23\, 6:30 p.m.)

SUMMARY:Theatre Club Outing: Covenant
DESCRIPTION:COVENANT at the Goodman Theatre\nWednesday\, May 27\n\n“Everybody got a secret.”\nExpect one devilish twist after another in Covenant\, a mythic and suspenseful new play hailed as “blackout-and-blood-curdling-scream deliciousness” (New York Magazine)\, “undeniably spooky (and) absolutely enjoyable” (TheaterMania). He left the small Georgia town a struggling guitarist—and returned a blues star. As rumors of a darker deal abound\, it becomes clear that he’s not the only one with a secret….or seeking salvation. This “striking Southern gothic work” (New York Times) explores the power of belief and the thin line between rumor and truth.\nCOVENANT contains mature content including depictions and discussions of violence\, sex and sexuality\, strong language\, and alcohol use. This production includes strobe lights\, the sound of gunfire and sudden loud noises.\n\nAnticipated cost per show ticket only: $49 (TBD depending on number of attendees).\n\nWe plan to meet at the Club for dinner and then Uber over to the Goodman (a small transportation fee will be added to the total due for attendees needing a ride).\n\nSound like a fun night out? Let Rick Frendt know that you’ll be coming!\nSend a confirmation note to Rick at:\n\nrfrendt@comcast.net\nor send a text to 708-359-0806

DESCRIPTION:The newly formed Cliff Dwellers Theatre Club secured a limited block of tickets to see the Goodman Theatre’s world premiere musical adaptation of the best selling novel Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.  The Cliff Dwellers’ unique connection to the show comes via the Goodman having borrowed the Club’s replica of the renowned “Bird Girl” sculpture (now a well-known symbol of the story’s setting of Savannah\, Georgia) to feature in the production. \nPrior to the performance\, Theatre Club members were treated a special Southern-themed three-course dinner developed by the Cliff Dwellers own amazing Chef Erick. \nThe Theatre Club will be planning additional group events in the months to come\, and all Cliff Dwellers are welcome to join the outings! \n
