SUMMARY:The Architectural Table: The Obama Presidential Center as an Urban Catalyst
DESCRIPTION:The Obama Presidential Center as an Urban Catalyst\nThe Obama Presidential Center (OPC) is the most significant development project in Chicago in the last 10 years. Its iconic form has been much scrutinized and debated\, but what of its role as an urban catalyst for Woodlawn and Hyde Park? \nThe November Architecture Table will address this question. Among the topics that will be discussed include: the role of iconic architecture as a neighborhood landmark; the Center’s economic impact on adjacent neighborhoods; the redesign of Jackson Park; and transportation impacts in and around the Center. We also welcome other topics and questions that attendees may have. \nAll participants are urged to visit the OPC site and walk the grounds prior to the discussion. Walking the site is FREE and requires no reservations. Please note: We will not be discussing the interior of any buildings or exhibits\, so there is no need to access any of the buildings. \nOPC Location and Hours\n6001 S. Stony Island Ave.\, Chicago\nCampus Grounds: Monday – Sunday 6 a.m.- 9 p.m. \n
